About Us Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre

Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), formerly known as Indian Cultural Centre, was set up in May, 1994 in Almaty with the objective of establishing and strengthening cultural relations between India and Kazakhstan.  The Centre was shifted to Astana in 2007, when the Embassy was relocated from Almaty to Astana.

Since its inception in 1994, SVCC has been engaged in various cultural activities, including conducting of yoga, dance and Hindi classes; celebration of Indian festivals; organizing cultural performances by students of the Centre; setting up of India Study Centres; screening of Indian films and documentaries; organizing performances by visiting Indian cultural troupes in Kazakhstan and Kazakhstani cultural troupes in India.  The SVCC also houses a library.

The schedule of yoga, dance and music classes conducted at the SVCC is given below.  These classes are conducted free of cost and interested individuals are welcome to register themselves by contacting the SVCC.

The SVCC also awards scholarships for higher studies in Indian universities under the General Scholarship Scheme of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi.  A brief note on ICCR Scholarships is available on the Embassy’s website:
